Once upon a time, a poor Brahmin came to Yudhishthira to ask for help, as he was passing through extreme poverty. Yudhishthira asked him to come the next day , saying he was busy with important work. Disappointed, the Brahmin left .
Bheema who was in the court, started screaming in joy and dancing, asking his courtiers to prepare for celebration of Victory. Surprised, Yudhishthira asked Bheema, what war has been won to celebrate Cictory.
Bheema hugged him, and said "You have won the war, brother. You have DEFEATED DEATH"
Yudhishthira confused, asked Bheema in a serious tone as to what he was talking about. Bheema replied in an equally serious tone "Is it not the truth that death cradles in every breath we take? Is it not the truth that we should live each moment as ifit is the last? Is it not our Dharma,to never ever turn away a Brahmin in need, or a hungry or helpless Gomata? As you thought that you are certain about being alive tomorrow, and asked a needy person to come later, I thought you have DEFEATED DEATH."
Yudhishthira remained silent for a while, and asked his servants to run and call the Brahmin back. He turned to Bheema, and hugged him for correcting his mistake and enlightening him ( From the pravachanam of Sri. Garikapati Narasimha Rao garu)
