Belief - A real life story of Syama Shastri

This real life incident proves that when an offering is made with all faith, it reaches the deity.

SYAMA SHASTRI, a great poet, and musician, who is considered one of the TRINITY OF CARNATIC MUSIC, was doing a great Yagna for Ma KAMAKSHI, and the king of Thanjavur, came with gifts along with an exquisite saree woven in pure silk and real gold, with his courtiers.

SYAMA SHASTRI took the saree and offered it to the fire during PURNAHUTI. Seeing this, the king was a little disappointed as to why such an exquisite gift was wasted, and asked SYAMA SHASTRI the same.

SYAMA SHASTRI requested the king to come to the temple along with him. When all went to the Sanctum Sanctorum, they saw that the goddess was adorned in the same saree that was given by the king. The king realised how stupid he was, not being able to see beyond material boundaries.
