AN ENLIGHTENING TALE OF ALEXANDER, AND HIS REALISATION š
(24/9/23)š
In the 4th century, ALEXANDER entered Bharat, and while passing the dense forests of TAKSHASHILA, he came across a Sadhu, DANDA SWAMY,who was sitting under a tree of fallen leaves, and in deep meditation.
When he Reached his abode, he sent his Messenger ONESCRATUS with the following message
"Alexander, Son of God and Lord of the Earth, invites you into his presence. If you come, you will be richly rewarded. If you donāt you will die.ā
DANDI SWAMY laughed loud and Said " if he is the son of God, how is he bound by death. My king is my Paramatma, and my benefactor is mother earth. I don't need his rewards, as what I want is beyond him and that is Mukti. He can kill my body, but can't touch my soul", and subtly asked him to get lost.
ONESCRATUS went back to Alexander with the message, and after listening to it, he ran to DANDI SWAMY, prostrated before him, and asked him for knowledge. DANDI SWAMY, preached him about vulnerability of life, karma, and accountability at the time of death.
The entire conversation is recorded as " ALEXANDER- DANDAMIS COLLOQUY". In which Alexander writes, whom the entire world couldn't defeat, a half-naked yogi (gymnosophist) defeated. It is also said that DANDI SWAMY predicted his death, and that worry ate him up. At the time of his death, he ordered that he be buried with his arms wide open indicating that whatever was obtained in life cannot be taken at death.
His EPITAPH read "A TOMB NOW SUFFICES HIM, FOR WHOM THE WORLD WAS NOT ENOUGH ".
