The founder of SIDDHESHWARI PEETHAM in Kurtalam, in Tamilnadu was established by MOUNA SWAMY, who was a great saint with many SIDDHA SHAKTIS.
After he established the SIDDHESHWARI PEETHAM, he proposed to install an ido of SIDDHA GANAPATI, in the premises. A Granite idol, as instructed by Swamyji was made, and on the day of consecration, Kumbhabhishekham was being performed.
The whole of the town of Kurtalam was present for the consecration, and a British officer, objected to the crowd saying that it was an unnecessary commotion to see a stone idol.
Swamyji said that it isn't a mere idol, and after PRANAPRATHISHTA, the deity himself resides in the idol. The officer laughed and said of it has life, then it should have pulse. Prove to me that it has a pulse, and I will walk away.
Swamyji asked him to call doctors and get it checked. Doctors were called, and as they put the stethoscope on the idol, they heard Pulse. They were shocked and also scared. The officer called geologists from Tirunelveli, to ascertain that no devices were fit into the idol to produce the sound of the pulse.
The officer bowed to Swamyji, apologised and left. The Kumbhabhishekham was conducted without any disturbance. The pulse was heard for three days, and people from all over the state thronged for the darshan of SIDDHA GANAPATI. From that day onwards, the GANAPATI SIDDHESHWARI PEETHAM came to be known as NADI GANAPATI or the GANAPATI with a pulse
