A MUST READ STORY OF A MYSTERIOUS TEMPLE, WHICH IS BEYOND SCIENCE, AND WHICH INCREASES OUR FAITH AND RESPECT TO SANATANA DHARMA š
( 1/10/23)
On the 26th of December 2004, When Tsunami struck the coast of Tamilnadu, the gigantic waves of the Ocean stopped 2 kms away from One temple which was on the shores of Indian Ocean. While the vicinities were Lashed by the demonic waves killing people, the Temple complex remained unaffected. It was like the waves knew their limitations with the temple, and the diety inside. Many people inside the temple complex survived to tell the miracle of the diety and the Temple. The temple was SUBRAHMANYA TEMPLE In TIRUCHENDUR.
This was the place where SUBRAHMANYA chose to spend time worshipping SHIVA after killing SURAPADMASURA. VISHWAKARMA then constructed this temple, and Deva Guru Brihaspati made the idol With Panchaloha, and worshipped SUBRAHMANYA.
The idol here is in Namaskara Mudra as if worshipping Shiva. This temple is shrouded in mysteries and withstood numerous onslaughts of the west. In the 15th century, Portugese took over TIRUCHENDUR, and on the Warning of a Naik king, vacated the place looting the gold silver and along with the tremendous wealth of the temple, they took the pancha loha vigraha of SUBRAHMANYA too.
As they boarded the huge ship along with the loot, and sailed a few nautical miles, A huge storm struck from nowhere. The storm was so daunting that they all believed that it was the wrath of the diety, and threw the idol into the sea. The minute the idol touched the waters of the Sea, the storm stopped. As the shaken soldiers continued the journey, the idol sank to the depths of the Ocean.
The same night, the priest of temple, VADEMAL AYYAPPA PILLAYAR had a dream, where Bhagawan said that he's in the depths of the Ocean, and the place where a lemon is floating on the waters is the place, Where the idol is. Immediately the priest along with some fishermen, reached the place and they dived in the place where a lemon was floating, and retrieved the idol. For some reason the idol had marks like it was bitten by fish, and those are still on the Idol, that is in the sanctum sanctorum even today.
A Dutch soldier Gen. M. RENNELL, in his book THE DESCRIPTION, wrote that in the year 1548, when he was in the Dutch army, and as they were trying to destroy the temple, with huge artillery, what defeated them and made them flee was the GOPURAM (SHIKHARA)of the temple.
He writes that Mysterious weapons were fired from the GOPURAM and he also humbly concluded that, having darshan of the temple was their victory.
After the Tsunami,a group of scientists did a research,& concluded That the Topographical planning in the construction of the temple was the reason for it to be unaffected by the Tsunami. The temple was constructed at a latitude of 8.69601 degrees and a longitude of 78.12965 degrees, which made the molecular chain of the Tsunami waves break. This was concluded by the scientists.
There is an undated SHILA SHASANAM at the entrance of the temple, that Varuna deva bows to the Agni swaroopa Subrahmanya, & vows to not interfere and also that the ocean will be under SUBRAHMANYA'S Command.
Whether this is a metaphorical depiction of an engineering Marvel, or whether it is Bhagawan's Leela is our perspective. Though they say that the temple is 2000 years old, there is no definitive answer to this. The geological examination of the
Idol, as well as the material of the temple is still non conclusive. The temple which baffles the best sceptics with its mysteries, stands tall, transcending every onslaught, and continues to watch it's devotees as a solitary custodian.
