A SHORT STORY FROM MATSYA PURANA, ABOUT THE BIRTH OF MANGAL OR KUJA GRAHA, TODAY ON BHAUMAVATI AMAVASYAđ
BHAGAWAN SHIVA went into deep meditation, after Ma Sati gave herself to Yogagni in Daksha yagna, on the banks of River KSHIPRA (now Ujjain). The energy of his penance was so intense that beads of perspiration appeared on Shiva's forehead.
As a drop of sweat was about to fall on the earth, MOTHER EARTH, BHOOMATHA, caught that drop in her hands which soon transformed into a baby boy, who was glowing with the radiance of bright fire.
Hence, he was named ANGARAKA. He is also called KUJA, because KU means Earth and Ja means originated from. The place where KUJA or ANGARAKA was born is MANGALNATH in UJJAIN, on the banks of River KSHIPRA.
Strange as it may seem, planet MARS, or ANGARAKA GRAHA, is clearly seen from this temple, which is on a hilltop, and hence a MARS OBSERVATORY is constructed here.
Those suffering from debts, financial troubles or having troubles in Marriage or are not getting married, should perform ANNA ABHISHEKHA here, where ABHISHEKHA is done with hot boiled rice to the SHIVA LINGAM here, which is worshipped as KUJA.
ON BHAUMAVATI AMAVASYA (AMAVASYA OCCURING ON TUESDAY, THE DAY OF KUJA) that is today, to get rid of the above problems, GODANAM OF A RED GOMATA SHOULD BE DONE, OR AT LEAST BE FED đ
