What's Adhik maas?
-
Because the solar and lunar calendars, Drift apart by about 11 days every Year, To synchronize them, an "extra month" (Adhik Maas) is added roughly every three years.
-
This Personification of Adhika Maas was Feeling Dejected, and went to Lord Vishnu in Deep Sorrow, As it lacked a presiding Deity, and was considered useless.
-
Lord Vishnu gave Jyeshta Adhika Maas his own name "Purushottam" and declared that Any Dharmic Deeds performed in this Jyeshta Adhika Maas would Yield Infinite Results (Punya)
Unlike regular months, Adhik Maas has no Solar Transition, resulting in buildup of solar energy, that's essential for Deep Karmic Cleansing.
Dharmic Deeds in Jyeshta Adhika Maasa, act as a spiritual vacuum, sucking away the "Prarabdha" karma (past deeds) that would otherwise take lifetimes to Resolve.
Purnima that falls in Jyeshta Adhika Maasa, creates a Celestial "Pocket" of Time, that acts as a Bridge between the Material & the Divine, Creating an ideal time to Dissolve Karma by Feeding Cows on this Day
